Tax refund from Norway

Who can expect the tax refund?

If You have worked and paid (or still working and paying) income taxes in Norway during the last 3 years, you can register for a tax refund.

1. Use the calculator to find out the refundable amount.

2. Fill in the registration form and attach required documents to begin the process of tax refund.

3. Completed registration form and required documents should be sent by registered mail to this address:

OR You can come to the nearest representative office.

4. As soon as the documents are received, You will be informed about it and then the tax refund process will be started.

5. Norwegian tax authority will transfer the tax refund directly to Your bank account.

6. After You receive the tax refund, you must contact the company “Tax Back Solution” and pay the service fee.

  • The copy of Your passport / ID.

Documents about Your income:

  • original form “Skattemelding” or form “Tax Return for Income and Wealth Tax”;
  • form “Lønnsoppgave” or form “A-melding oppsummering”, etc. from all employments (if You have it) or the last payslips from all employers;
  • form “Skatteoppgjør” (“Tax Assessment”), if the overpaid tax refund is for the tax year 2016, 2017, and 2018.

If You do not have all required documents, do not worry. Please, do not hesitate and contact us, we will be happy to help.

- If the tax refund is for the previous tax year, then Norwegian Tax Administration transfers the money during this period 24th June – 31th October.

- If the tax refund is for the later than the previous tax year, then the process can take up to 3-4 months after the information and application submission to “Tax Back Solution”.

 

NOTE: the duration of the process mentioned above is indicative, i. e. it is the most common period in practice. It may not be the same to Your situation because it depends on work rate of foreign institutions and Your provided documents. Every case is unique.

400 NOK, if the tax refund is up to 5000 NOK;

800 NOK, if the tax refund is between 5001–15000 NOK;

1200 NOK, if the tax refund is between 15000–25000 NOK;

1600 NOK, if the tax refund is between 25001–30000 NOK;

2000 NOK, if the tax refund is greater than 30001 NOK.

Service fee is applied for every tax separately.

Debt reduction/elimination – 500 NOK.

Bank account submission to Norwegian Tax Administration – 500 NOK.

20% discount for students who have a valid student ID.

 

No tax refund – no service fee.

You pay for service only if the process is successful. There is no prepayment fee.

Who can apply for the child benefit in Norway?

If You are a citizen of EEA and work in Norway but Your family (child/children) lives in the motherland, You can apply to receive the child benefit: child benefit (“Barnetrygd”), double child benefit (“Utvidet Barnetrygd”) and child care benefit (“Kontantstøtte”).

Child benefit is granted until the child is 18 years old (inclusive).

Child benefit is granted since the child is born or since the time You (together with a child) have come to Norway.

Child benefit is 970 NOK per month.

 

If You are a single parent, You can receive double child benefit (“Utvidet Barnetrygd”).

Double child benefit is 1940 NOK per month

Child benefit can be granted for the previous 3 years.

Child care benefit (“Kontantstøtte”) is granted to children who are between 13-23 months old.

Child care benefit is 7500 NOK per month

Child care benefit can be granted for the previous 3 months.

 

Service fee:

-800 NOK for each child;

-1300 NOK for each child if applied for two types of benefit.

Duration

Up to a year after You provide the information to “Tax Back Solution”.

No child benefit – no service fee.

How to get form E106:

  1. fill in the registration form (link to E106),
  2. attach required documents:
  • the copy of Your passport / ID;
  • the copy of Your work contract (mandatory);
  • police permission to live and work in Norway.

  1. As soon as the documents are prepared and sent to Norwegian institution, You will be informed about it by e-mail.
  2. Norwegian institution sends the form to Your provided home address. After You receive this form, you must contact “Tax Back Solution”.

Service fee – 300 NOK.

You pay for service only if the process is successful. There is no prepayment fee.
